I created some unique challenges when I decided to use an electronic fuel injection and ignition system and an EFIS for my flight instruments. I decided I wanted a system that uses two batteries and one alternator and still be able to have electrical power for at least 35 minutes after losing either battery or the alternator. This system design is a variation of 'Lectric Bob's "Foldout 4" design, utilizing a main battery buss, an essential buss and an engine buss. Having the ability to shut everything down and the engine to continue running off of the engine buss was the focus of the design. If the battery that powers the engine buss malfunctions, I can switch batteries and continue to keep the engine isolated from any other problems.
