|Met guys from the club at Aurora and flew
to independence for breakfast.
Met Jerry and Richard Vangrunsven after landing for breakfast. They were both very interested in the Subaru installation.
After breakfast the plane wouldn't respond to turning the starter key. After a short evaluation I discovered that the gear mechanism in the starter had stuck and the fuse blew the split-second I turned the key to try and start it.
The gear mechanism wasn't stuck far enough to keep the starter engaged. Only far enough to cause a large draw when I tried to make the starter turn again
A very slight tap on the starter and a new fuse and the plane fired right up.
|Starter gear stuck.||Removed and cleaned starter gear mechanism.|
